Claudio Olmedo has been working to make technology education accessible to everyone through the One Dollar Computer project. For over 10 years, he has worked on this goal, facing setbacks and technical challenges along the way. Today, with components getting cheaper and more accessible, the project is finally becoming viable. His focus is on bringing people together to help make this vision happen.

"Talented engineers are everywhere — often undiscovered. For over a decade, I have worked to remove the cost barrier to technology. Now that the technology is ready, we can make it happen together."

MAIN PROJECT

One Dollar Computer

One Dollar Computer Prototype

A simple computer designed to cost one dollar.

Technology can be expensive to learn. The goal of this project is to build a computer that costs only one dollar to make, so anyone can discover their potential for the future. It is a simple tool, designed to be as accessible as picking up a pencil. The vision isn't to create a traditional NGO, but to build a self-sustaining model that generates real value for society—where the users and the community ultimately decide its worth.

This is a personal project I have been working on for over 10 years. After many failed attempts and tech limitations, modern advances in affordable components are finally making a one-dollar computer possible. Now, the project needs real-world testing and application. If you believe in this approach and want to help validate the idea from prototype to production, please follow along or get in touch below.
